Comet Bio Appoints New Board Member

Former Western Sugar Cooperative CEO joins Comet Bio

London, Ontario – Comet Bio announced today that it has appointed longtime agribusiness and food industry executive Inder Mathur as the company’s newest board member. Mathur brings over 30 years of experience in ingredient manufacturing, agribusiness, and the food and beverage industry. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Denver-based Western Sugar Cooperative, a sugar beet refining and marketing company.

“The addition of Inder to our Board of Directors will further enhance the depth of experiences and diversity of skill sets represented on our Board,” said Rich Troyer, CEO of Comet Bio. “His extensive knowledge of ingredient manufacturing and various end markets will be an important resource as we scale our sustainable ingredient technology and sell to food and beverage, animal nutrition, and biomaterials markets.”

Prior to being CEO of Western Sugar Cooperative, Mathur served as CFO of Tate & Lyle North America where he developed a deep understanding of commodity markets. Specifically, Mathur led the Finance function and served as a member of the Senior Executive team of Tate & Lyle North America Group comprising cane sugar, beet sugar, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, and farm feed subsidiaries across North America.

“Comet Bio has developed a disruptive technology with the potential to change the entire ingredient industry,” said Inder Mathur. “I look forward to helping them harness the potential of their technology, access new markets for their sustainable ingredients, and realize their mission of changing the way ingredients are made.”
