In a December 4, 2024, news release, food ingredients company Comet announced the release of its 2025 trend predictions report, offering a look at new opportunities for manufacturers of food, beverage, and supplements. Comet is also the creator of Arrabina, a gluten-free wheat fiber extract containing prebiotics.
“This annual Trends Report is a great way for food, beverage, and supplement manufacturers to align with consumer interest,” stated Hannah Ackermann, RD, vice president of marketing and nutrition affairs for Comet, in the news release. Ackermann also co-authored the report. “This data offers precision metrics and helps us at Comet to navigate the gaps and opportunities for new product research and development. The report is free to access because we want to give back to our customers (both current and future), as well as add value to the industry at large.”
The report was created using analyses of social media listening and market data. The top three trends discussed in detail in the report are:
- Gut microbiome benefits extend beyond digestive health
- Exploring microbiomes that exist outside of the gut
- Scientific validity and prebiotic diversification
As noted in the news release, 76% of consumers are aware of the connection between gut health and overall wellness.
